Fellow Members:

I hope each of you enjoyed the off-season and are looking forward to a great 2011 golfing season. I think the 2010 season was another successful season. The course was in the best playing conditions from Tee to Greens. I think every Member should go out of their way to thank Dan Madar and his staff. The one thing I heard more this past year is the Greens are in Great Shape!

 Our annual meeting will be held at Clark Recreation Center on Wednesday, March 9th, 2011.  Registration will be from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.  The meeting will start promptly at 7:00.  The annual membership dues will remain at $125.  You may bring your applications to the meeting or mail to:

 Your 2011 Tournament Committee has put together an outstanding schedule for the upcoming season.  The Member-Guest Tournament will be held on Saturday September 24th this year, and we hope to raise more money for junior golf and increase our scholarship donations. Last year we gave $2,500 in scholarships, but we need more member participation.   I urge everyone to play in this event or at least help with raising more funds.

2011 Men’s Club Tournament Requirements

In our continuing effort to make our tournaments fair we will require the following:

  • All members must have active and updated handicaps
  • For all challenge cup tournaments and Tuesday night league scores we, the committee, will post your scores. What that means is just turn in the printed score card we provide and we will post all scores.
  • Starting this year anyone wishing to play in the president’s cup or club championship must have a minimum of 4 scores posted before the sign up date for these tournaments.

 One of the most critical issues for an organization to run well is communication.   It is absolutely necessary for every member to walk into the locker room on a weekly basis and find out what is going on.  The officers spend a lot of time and effort to form schedules, list pairings, post future tournaments and outings so please read ALL of the bulletin boards in the locker room.

 The No Show Policy is still in effect. Guilty players’ must pay the $40 fine to avoid suspension

 We will continue to have three (3) flights this year for the Challenge Cup and Club Championship.  Last years’ Champs will continue to get a bye into the match-play portion for the current year, but will have to play for the #1 seed.  The flights will be determined after the first handicap revision in June is received.

 Important Change, Please Read

Challenge Cup qualification has small changes this year. Qualifying tournament points  will be still be based on your Net Score There will be one new feature in the scoring process that has changed. The last three tournaments of the year and the Governor’s Cup will be weighted more heavily for Challenge Cup points. This was decided on by the Committee so that the golfers who are playing their best golf at the end of the season have a better chance of making the Challenge Cup Team. We will still take the three club champions and the top 6 from each flight. There will be 3 Golf Committee Picks based on who they feel is playing their best golf at the time leading up to the Challenge Cup. Also we will only go down the list of alternates to the 1st and 2nd alternate, and then the Golf Committee will fill the spots.

 I feel obligated to remind everyone that we must improve Pace-Of-Play to make the game more enjoyable.   This starts at the First Tee, which is the easiest place for The Men’s Club to try and help. You must check-in and be ready to tee off 10 minutes before your tee time.

 Again this year we will have the 70/70 rule.  All members who are 70 years old as of April 1, 2011 will only pay $70 to join the club.

 The Hole-In-One Pool is back again this year. With no winner over the last 2 years the Pot should be about  $3000 this year. Anyone who was in it last year there will be a $10 fee to re-enter.  If you were not in it, but would like to enter, the fee is $30.

NOTICE Tuesday Night League

ALL Tuesday night league money can be paid at our March 9th meeting date or mailed to Jeff Reismann  or Rob Hurwitz, and must be received by March 9th.   Any questions, please contact Robert Handler or Robert Hurwitz. I would like to point out that the new chairmen running the Tuesday night league Robert H and Robert H did an outstanding job. They brought in some new ideas (Playoff for the overall number one team) and also left alone the foundation that worked so well over the years. So I think everyone in the Tuesday night league should go out of their way to personally say thank you to these two fine gentlemen.

 This will be our only mailing this year.  An updated roster and all pertinent information (see attachments) will be available on our  WEBSITE (SPOOKROCK.NET) as well as in the locker room.  Please notify Dave Singleton or Marc Niederhoffer of any incorrect information on attached roster.
