Fellow Members:

I hope each of you enjoyed the off-season and are looking forward to a great 2012 golfing season. I think there were a couple of highlights to mention from the previous season. The first being we had a winner of the hole in one pool after 3 years. Congratulations to Denis Barry. The Clubs biggest moment, in case any of you missed it, of course was the Challenge Cup victory over Rotella after too many years to count. The Cup will sit proudly on a shelf in the snack bar this season and hopefully for many more years to come. Great job by the Challenge Cup Team.

 

Very Important!

Our annual meeting will be held at Clark Recreation Center on Wednesday, March 7th, 2012. Registration will be from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m and our meeting will start promptly at 7:00. There has been a change to all membership dues in 2012 please see the attached applications. This is the first increase in over 5 years, but it is a minor increase which we need. Also to raise some funds we have been given permission by the town to have a limited number of non residents join the club. We have decided to allow only 10 non residents in as we do not want to over burden the tournaments. They will have to be approved by the Golf committee, pay higher dues and nonresident rates. If you wish to sponsor a non resident member please see a club officer. You may bring your applications to the meeting or mail to:

The Men’s Club Committee has put together an outstanding schedule for the upcoming 2012 season. Don’t forget to look at the schedule and take note of the 4 tournaments that are weighted more heavily than the others. This I believe worked well in helping us get the Challenge Cup back. The reason being 3 of the 4 are in the last month of the season and that was the committee thinking. The Member-Guest Tournament will be held on Saturday September 15th this year. Last year’s event (with a lot of the members help) from playing in it or buying raffle tickets helped us raise the most money ever. As you know this tournament is for a very worthy cause since we donate $2500 each year in scholarships to local schools .Again with your help we hope to raise more money for junior golf and increase our scholarship donations, but we need more member participation. I urge everyone to play in this event or at least help with raising more funds.

2012 Men’s Club Tournament Requirements

In our continuing effort to make our tournaments fair we will require the following:

 All members must have active and updated handicaps

 For all tournaments and Tuesday night league scores we, the committee, will post your scores. What that means is just turn in the printed score card we provide and we will post all scores.

 Starting this year anyone wishing to play in the president’s cup or club championship must have a minimum of 4 scores posted before the sign up date for these tournaments.

One of the most critical issues for an organization to run well is communication. It is absolutely necessary for every member to walk into the locker room on a weekly basis and find out what is going on. The officers spend a lot of time and effort to form schedules, list pairings, and post future tournaments and outings so please read ALL of the bulletin boards in the locker room.

The No Show Policy is still in effect. It allows the guilty player to pay a $40 fine to avoid suspension

We will continue to have three (3) flights this year for the Challenge Cup and Club Championship. Last years’ Champs will continue to get a bye into the match-play portion for the current year, but will have to play for the #1 seed. The flights will be determined after the June 1st handicap revision is received.

Challenge Cup qualification remains the same this year. Again it will be by Net Score points. We will still take the three club champions and the top 6 from each flight. There will be 3 Golf Committee Picks based on who we feel is playing their best golf at the time leading up to the Challenge Cup. Also we will only go down the list of alternates to the 1st and 2nd alternate, and then the Golf Committee will fill the spots.

I feel obligated to remind everyone that we must improve Pace-Of-Play to make the game more enjoyable. This starts at the First Tee, which is the easiest place for The Men’s Club to try and help. You must check-in and be ready to tee off 10 minutes before your tee time. 

NOTE CHANGE 

Again this year we will have the 70/80 rule. All members who are 70 years old as of April 1, 2012 will only pay $80 to join the club.

The Hole-In-One Pool will be back again this year. I think it has been a great success and gets the juices flowing when you start seeing $ signs. As stated previously since we had a winner last year the fee will only be $10 to get in this year.

 

NOTICE Tuesday Night League

ALL Tuesday night league money must be paid at our March 7th meeting date or mailed to Jeff Reissman only (use address above). This is the only way you are able to pay. Any questions, please contact Robert Handler or Robert Hurwitz. Thanks again to both gentlemen for running the Tuesday night league, they did an outstanding job.

This will be our only mailing this year. An updated roster and all pertinent information (see attachments) will be available on our WEBSITE (SPOOKROCK.NET) as well as in the locker room. Please notify Dave Singleton or Marc Niederhoffer of any incorrect information on attached roster.
